Follow the steps below to get started.

Step 1 – Contact Us

To host an event, please fill out the form below to reach our Community Relations Manager. Once we receive your request, we will contact you as soon as possible to start organizing your Canada VRS School Event!

Note: The first thing to consider when organizing a School Event is the date. Each event takes approximately three months of planning, so please contact us well in advance of any date you have in mind.

  • Date Format: MM slash DD slash YYYY
  • Please allow three business days for the Community Relations Manager to respond to your request.

Step 2 – Spread the Word

Once your event details are set, you will want to inform your school’s staff and students’ parents and/or legal guardians, so they can be well-prepared before the day of your event.

Canada VRS Fact Sheet

The fact sheet can be distributed to teach school staff and students’ parents, and/or legal guardians everything they need to know about Canada VRS.

Download the Fact Sheet >

Registering Students for VRS

Youth under the age of majority need authorization from parents and legal guardians before obtaining a VRS number. Please find a sample email with authorization instructions for you to share with parents, and/or legal guardians.

Download the Sample Email >

Authorization Instructions

There are two ways for students to receive authorization:

A) Online Authorization

Parents with internet access can easily provide authorization for their children online. The Canada VRS Community Outreach Team will collect the online authorizations that parents and legal guardians have submitted for their child.

Click Here to Access the Online Form >

B) Paper Authorization

For parents and legal guardians who cannot authorize online, they can fill the two-page paper authorization forms readily attached to the sample email and have them returned to the school teachers.

Step 3 – Promote Your Event

Get your school excited! We have downloadable event posters; one for primary schools and one for secondary schools. Please print them out and post them around your school.

Step 4 – The Day of Your Event

The day has arrived and it’s time to host your
Canada VRS School Event!

Event Checklist:

  1. Make sure students bring their data network supported devices (any smart phone, tablet and/or laptop with Wi-Fi or their own data plan).
  2. For students who do not have access to a data network supported device, make sure your school’s devices are available for use.
  3. Make sure that every student under the age of majority has received authorization from their parent and/or legal guardian. Canada VRS will keep track of online authorizations but please remember, collection of all paper authorizations is the school’s responsibility and to be transferred to the Outreach Team once they arrive.
  4. Get empowered and have fun!
