Hello
I’m Sue Decker, (sign me, Sue), Executive Director of CAV, and I have some exciting news to share with you about our plans in 2017.
First, I am pleased to tell you we will be increasing VRS hours during weekdays (M-F). Beginning on April 3rd, Canada VRS will be open from 9 AM – midnight (eastern time), expanding VRS 3 more hours!
Secondly, I want to let you know our team is growing too. We’ve recently added a new position called, “Community Relations Specialist”. Her name is Pamela Witcher, (sign her, Pamela) and, many of you may already know her. Pamela is responsible to get out and meet with VRS users across Canada to exchange ideas, collect feedback and respond to your questions.
Now, I would like to introduce you to Pamela.
Hi, I’m Pamela Witcher, and I am thrilled to be joining the team and looking forward to engaging with all of you. Of course, Canada is a large country so it may take some time for me to get to your area. We are working now to add a Community Relations page to the website and getting a Facebook page so I can update you on my plans, but in the meantime, you can reach me by email at pwitcher@srvcanadavrs.ca
Also, I want to inform you that SRV Canada VRS is now on YouTube! You will find ASL and LSQ channels and all our videos from 2016, including videos from our spectacular launch event. This year, we will also be launching our How-To video series which will provide ASL/LSQ support starting with how to download an app, register for the service and how 9-1-1 works.
Go to YouTube and check out the new channels and make sure you subscribe!
Sue and I look forward to learning about your experiences with using VRS to make 2017 the year when we prove “Access is Opportunity!” Let’s keep in touch! Bye!
